Write for us
We welcome clear, original pitches about beauty products, ingredient language, beauty imagery, personal-care routines and beauty history. Send proposals through the Contact page; a concise, specific idea is more useful than a complete draft sent without context.
What makes a strong pitch
Name the question your piece will answer, the reader it serves and the distinct point it will make. Tell us what kind of article you propose and how you will explain the subject without relying on unsupported claims, sales language or pressure to buy.
Useful contributions
We are interested in explainers, comparisons, historical accounts and close readings of product language or beauty images. Contributions should be original, specific, accessible to general readers and careful about the difference between describing a product and claiming it produces a particular result.
Sending a proposal
Use the Contact page and choose the editorial option. Include a working title, a short summary and any relevant context about your proposed approach. Please do not include private information you do not want to share. We cannot promise a response or publication, and we will discuss terms before accepting commissioned work.
Look closely. Choose for yourself.
Beauty language can sound certain while leaving key details unsaid. We separate what a label or image shows from what it cannot establish.
